Local Rotarians Doing Good in Our Community and Around the World
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Borrego Springs Rotary is a small yet mighty club. It does not take a lot of members to make changes in our community and beyond. It is nothing short of phenomenal to witness what our Club has done. We have single-handedly raised $65,000 to match the Borrego Springs Unified School District for the purchase of a much-needed new school bus. After years of funding private coaches to take our students on field trips outside of Borrego Springs, we decided to take it into our own hands to help purchase a school bus that can do the same. With the help of our Interact club, we provide all kids 18 and under with a Christmas gift. We also support the Youth and Senior center, which provides services to seniors and a child care for pre-school children.
SUPPORTING EDUCATION
The Borrego Springs Rotary Club has donated thousands of dollars to assist our students with the purchase of uniforms and equipment for sports, transportation to events outside Borrego, airfare for Interact students to travel to India and Mongolia on service missions, materials for art classes, equipment for high school science classes and the list goes on and on. Our students are the beneficiaries of so much good that comes from our club. We provide scholarships for graduating seniors to attend both trade schools as well as colleges and universities.
BUILDING FUTURE LEADERS
Youth are the future of our community, state, and country. Interact clubs help high schoolers to develop leadership skills and understand the concept of Service Above Self. Our club sponsors and supports one of the most active Interact clubs in the State of California if not all of the Rotary world. Learn More
In addition to sponsoring an Interact Club the Rotary Club of Borrego Springs supports the Boys and Girls Club, Children’s Art program, the Little League, and high school sports programs with generous donations.
EDUCATING OUR YOUTH ON THE ENVIRONMENT
Locally, the Borrego Springs Rotary Club is supporting the only NIA (National Interpretive Association) High School Class in the United States. These students are learning the skills necessary to be interpreters and guides in a State Park – specifically the Anza Borrego Desert State Park which surrounds our little unincorporated town of Borrego Springs.
