WELCOME

Welcome to Borrego Springs Rotary Club! Borrego Springs, California, is a small desert town with a population of about 2,566. Tucked between three mountain ranges, it is over an hour’s drive in any direction to the nearest city. There are no traffic lights in our town. Being an unincorporated community, the citizens step up when something needs to get done. And that is what we do—we step up and help to solve big and small problems with funds and people power when needed. Our motto is “service above self.” Every Christmas we provide all kids,18 and under, with an age-appropriate gift. We support the Youth and Senior Center, which provides services to seniors and child care for preschool children. Our members give money, goods, and services to people in the community who are in need. I like to think that our club’s members represent the community at large, except instead of talking, we do the “walking” to provide less fortunate folks with assistance. For example, we recently provided many Senior students at our high school with 1,000 dollar scholarships to help them with college expenses. We sponsor an Interact Club at the high school and support the Boys and Girls Club, Children’s Art program, the Little League, and high school sports programs with generous donations.

In addition, the Borrego Springs Rotary Club has donated thousands of dollars to assist our students with the purchase of uniforms and equipment for sports, transportation to events outside Borrego, airfare for Interact students to travel to India and Mongolia on service missions, materials for art classes, equipment for high school science classes, and the list goes on and on. Our members all have one thing in common…a love for our town and the desire to serve. I hope you will check out some of the projects that the Borrego Springs Rotary has been involved in, and I would like to invite you to visit our town and attend our Rotary Club meetings.

BORREGO SPRINGS ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
May, 2025

This scholarship is for 2025 graduating Borrego Springs High School Seniors or former BSHS continuing education students who are pursuing studies either at a vocational school, community college, or university.

  • Eligibility for Academic Scholarships: Graduating seniors or former students planning to attend accredited colleges or universities must demonstrate community service and submit a letter of recommendation if first-time applicants.
  • Eligibility for Vocational Scholarships: Similar to academic scholarships, applicants must be graduating seniors or former students focusing on vocational training and demonstrate community service. First-time applicants must also submit a letter of recommendation.
  • Selection Criteria: Applicants will be evaluated on financial need, extracurricular activities, potential for success, community service, and academic performance, including a transcript submission.

Application Process: Applications must be submitted by June 4, 2025, including a transcript and recommendation letter, followed by an interview.
