A Message From Our President

September 2026

As August slips into September and the desert begins its slow turn toward fall, our Rotary Club is still carrying the joy and the generosity of our Mardi Gras Gala from early March 2025. It was a night full of energy and community spirit. We raised nearly $60,000, and many told us it was even more fun than 2024. The New Orleans-style food was a hit, Borrego Outfitters once again donated the wine, Julian Beer kept the kegs flowing, and Mike Rue of Ram Radio filled the room with that unmistakable New Orleans rhythm.

The next Gala is already on the horizon: February 6, 2027, at La Casa del Zorro, Borrego Springs.

Because Rotary operates on a July–June fiscal year, we are currently distributing funds from our March 2025 fundraiser according to last year’s approved budget. Those dollars have supported Borrego Days, the community welcome sign, the Youth and Senior Center, emergency air-conditioning assistance, and food coupon programs through the Ministers Association and BAMA — all efforts that help keep Borrego Springs thriving.

Our deepest commitment, however, remains our youth. Each spring, our scholarship committee meets with high school seniors and continuing college students, offering support for two-year colleges, four-year universities, and vocational programs. This year’s allocation of $50,000 is a joyful investment in the future leadership of our valley.

We may be a small club, but we are rooted, steady, and dedicated to the good of Borrego Springs. As we move into a new year of service, we look forward to expanding our involvement, deepening partnerships, and continuing the work that reflects Rotary’s mission and values.
