Welcome to Rotary Club of Borrego Springs

A Message From Our President

Borrego Springs in the summer is not in general a very lively place. The quiet is restful, though it can get to be too much at times. But this morning at our Club’s breakfast meeting at Rams Hill (with its stunning views of the desert and mountains and its good food), the energy was bouncing around the table and the noise level rose a bit. The three Club members who were Zooming in – from Colorado, Minnesota, and Oregon – added their good ideas and enthusiasm. Easy video conferencing is a great thing that came out of the pandemic, especially for a place like Borrego.

Someone had suggested the need for us to start planning our annual fundraiser for next winter. This past winter’s event had been the most successful ever, netting over $60,000 for scholarships and other good works (recipients of grants to be determined in the next months of this new Rotary year). Our events always provide a very good time and we want to do that again. We’ve tentatively set the date for February 7, which is soon before Mardi Gras. So of course we started thinking about New Orleans food, music, costumes, and letting the good times roll. Maybe offering a class to teach masque-making?

Our Club is small but mighty – like Borrego itself. As we enter the new year, we intend to let the good times – and good works – roll on!

Yours in service,
Diane E.P. Johnson
President, 2025-2026
